How to review a sequel to a show that’s mainly aimed at preteen girls (I hope)? It’s a follow up (or a spin-off, I dunno) to an Australian TV show H20: Just Add Water, the show centers around three mermaids: Lyla, Nixie and Sirena who stand on shallow waters most of the time looking bewildered. They live on the island from Lost and do synchronized diving for a living, I guess. I’d love a Gin & Tonic, but I’m out of tonic water.
One day the mermaid trio encounters two young guys fishing near their island. The mermaids are supposed to scare the fish away, in order to keep any unwanted visitors away from the island. Nixie however inexplicably decides to help the guys, and before you know it, she accidentally shakes the delicate balance of the mermaid paradise. Aussie Dean Cain turns into Aquaman. He also can manipulate water with his newly gained Jedi powers. You can drink Gin without the tonic, by the way.
What’s the story really about? It’s about the fact that there has been amazing development on waterproof makeup in the last few years. Where’s the show heading? Having not seen the following episodes I suspect Dean Cain will learn to bend all the elements and overcome the evil Fire Nation while the newly banished trio of girls without reproductive organs will stand still on shallow water spying on Dean Cain and his buddy James Van Der Beek. What a nail biter this is going to be, guys.
Will I watch the second episode? Most definitely, I still have lots of Gin left.
Oh good I miss Baywatch.
Best scene: Zac falls into the Moon Pool. I think it symbolizes him breaking the innocence of the mermaids. Or their hymen.
Most memorable bit: Synchronized dive of the Mermaid trio. That shit is really hard to do well. Nice job, girls!
